A bit about Maia

I recently graduated from Heriot-Watt University with a 2:1 in International Business Management and Spanish. As part of my degree, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to live in Valencia for a year, which greatly improved my language skills. I am currently living in Spain, where I work as a teaching assistant in a primary school. In this role, I regularly run lessons, support classroom teaching, and work one-to-one with pupils, adapting my approach to suit different learning needs. This experience has helped me develop a patient, supportive teaching style and the ability to explain concepts clearly. I offer support in Spanish and Business at National 5 and Higher level, with a focus on exam preparation, homework support, and building confidence in key topics. I aim to create a relaxed, positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making progress.

How does Maia run their lessons?

My lessons are structured but relaxed, with a strong focus on building confidence. I understand that every student learns differently, so I take time to understand what works best for each individual and tailor lessons to suit their needs. Lessons include clear explanations, guided practice, and exam-style questions, with a focus on SQA requirements and exam technique for National 5 and Higher. I aim to help students feel confident in what examiners are looking for and how to approach questions. At the end of each lesson, we complete a short review sheet outlining what was covered, any areas for improvement, and tasks for the following session. My aim is to create a supportive, positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making progress.
