A bit about Ellie
I am an Actuarial Science student at Heriot-Watt University who is passionate about Maths and Science.
I gained band 1 A grades (over 85%) in all Science and Maths exams during secondary school, including achieving 97% in Advanced Higher Maths during S6.
I led Maths Clubs at local primary schools during S5 and S6 as well as becoming a Maths and English Tutor in 2025 at Magikats Tuition Centre.
During my time tutoring, I have worked with children of various ages ranging from pre-school to S6.
I always ensure detailed feedback is given to parents regarding their child's progress and next steps in their learning.
I have excellent communication and listening skills which I have developed throughout my school and teaching career.
I am a confident individual who was voted House Captain in S6 by my peers where I regularly delivered presentations to a large audience of both adults and children in a clear manner.
I completed my Science Baccalaureate (Highest level of qualification you can achieve in a Scottish Secondary School) which was achieved with Distinction. During my Baccalaureate I taught an S3 class about my chosen topic of 'Should DNA be taken and stored at birth?', highlighting my knowledge and understanding of both Science, Maths and the ethical issues associated with this (human rights).
Throughout my education, I have become very confident with the use of computers and modern technology which will help lessons run more smoothly.
I am passionate about sharing my knowledge to help others succeed in their school career.
